EDIT::Vídeo Mapping::Páteo Dom Fradique

Explorando outras expressões no universo da Arte Urbana, a GAU encontra-se a apoiar a EDIT. - Escola de Design Interativo e Tecnologia, na sua Masterclass de Vídeo Mapping, que implicará como trabalho final, a projeção, no próximo Sábado, dia 25 de Fevereiro, a partir das 19h, de imagens em movimento sobre um conjunto de ruínas no Páteo Dom Fradique, junto ao Palácio Belmonte, nas imediações do Castelo de S. Jorge.

Exploring other expressions in the world of Urban Art, GAU is supporting the EDIT. - School of Interactive Design and Technology in its Masterclass Video Mapping, which will lead as the final work, to the projection on the next Saturday, February 25th, at 19h, of moving images on a set of ruins in Páteo Dom Fradique near the Palácio Belmonte, close to the Castle of S. Jorge.

Marvilarte AMI::Concurso de Arte Urbana::Parceria da GAU

A AMI, no âmbito da sua estratégia de responsabilidade social, de envolvimento com a comunidade e com os seus elementos mais vulneráveis, vai promover a realização de um concurso de arte urbana para a pintura artística, em graffiti, da sua sede.
O objectivo deste concurso, baptizado de “ MarvilArte AMI”, é dar a conhecer à população, o trabalho desenvolvido pela AMI ao mesmo tempo que incentiva o desenvolvimento e formação nas áreas artísticas junto das populações mais desfavorecidas.

O objecto desta intervenção de características inovadoras vai ser uma parede exterior (com cerca de 70 metros) da Sede da AMI, em Marvila, garantindo-se assim a visibilidade desta forma de manifestação artística.
Poderão candidatar-se ao concurso, pessoas a título individual ou colectivo, com idades compreendidas entre os 16 e os 35 anos. O prazo para receber candidaturas e projectos começa hoje, dia 22 de Fevereiro de 2012 e termina dia 8 de Março.

AMI, as part of its social responsibility strategy of engagement with the community and its most vulnerable, will promote an urban art contest for artistic painting, with graffiti, at its headquarters.
The purpose of this contest, named "MarvilArte AMI," is to inform the population, about the work of the AMI at the same time fostering the development and training in artistic areas with the most disadvantaged populations.
The object of this intervention of innovative features will be an exterior wall (about 70 meters) from the offices of AMI in Marvila, thus ensuring the visibility of this form of artistic expression.
May apply to the competition, people individually or collectively, aged between 16 and 35 years. The deadline for receiving applications and projects begins today, February 22, 2012 and ends on March 8.

Despite the marked differences between their graphic and visual languages, long-time friends Paulo Arraiano (yup) and Diogo Machado (add fuel to the fire) have often collaborated on many projects. Over the years each has developed an extensive portfolio in the fields of graphic and visual arts, working in a variety of mediums. Each has also taken part in a great number of individual and collective exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad. This is the first time they are showcasing their work together in the UK. Both grew up in and live in the seaside town of Cascais, outside Lisbon, Portugal, and in spite of their distinctive paths they share multiple references and interests. They have developed a high level of understanding and familiarity which often borders on the complicit, turning their fertile partnership into an ongoing intuitive collaboration. It is this convergence towards a mutual space where both their differences and similarities intersect that can be viewed here. Spaces Within explores this point of contact where the two individual realms meet and overlap – an area which both reflects and transcends the many inner spaces and territories their lives and work have created; a new multi-layered expanse composed of myriad emotions, characters, stories, landscapes, colours, shapes and details.

A exposição “AMARTE”, patente no Mercado do Bairro Alto, ao topo da Rua da Atalaia, inaugurou no passado dia 11 de Fevereiro, às 19h00, numa iniciativa promovida pela Galeria de Arte Urbana da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, no âmbito do Programa "Enamorados por Lisboa", que reúne naquele espaço de vendas e trocas, um conjunto de autores ligados ao universo do graffiti e da street art.

The exhibition "AMARTE" Patent Market Bairro Alto, the top of the Rua da Atalaia, opened on 11th February at19.00, an initiative promoted by Urban Art Gallery of Lisbon City Council, which meets in that space sales andexchanges, a group of authors connected to the world of graffiti and street art.

A mostra conta com um conjunto de trabalhos de fotografia, vídeo, desenho e pintura, que visa colocar em diálogo dois criadores mexicanos, de uma mesma geração, que decidiram viver em Lisboa, contudo com discursos visuais distintos na abordagem da cidade e que aqui se encontram de forma singular, através de um cruzamento entre os universos da imagem e da arte urbana.
Num encontro artístico que traz um olhar originalmente mexicano sobre a cidade de Lisboa, uma perceção estrangeira sempre mais atenta e desperta para a particularidade do alheio, as obras de Rodrigo e Parks confluem na imagem deste muro, simultaneamente suporte de sombras urbanas e de registos graffiti.
Entre México e Lisboa, entre uma certa deambulação fotográfica e um certo gesto caligráfico, entre o instante de um clic e o fluxo de uma lata de spray, inscreve-se assim, esta geografia comum, mas tão diversa.
Paralelamente à exposição, no dia 19 de Abril, às 19h00, acontece um encontro informal com os artistas, a Casa da América Latina, a Galeria de Arte Urbana e Investigadores, que visa o debate de ideias sobre arte e intervenção no espaço urbano.

The exhibition features a collection of works of photography, video, drawing and painting, which aims to put in dialogue two Mexican creators, of the same generation, who decided to live in Lisbon, but with distinct visual discourses in addressing the city and here are in a unique way, through a cross between the worlds of image and urban art.
In a meeting that brings an artistic eye was originally on the Mexican city of Lisbon, a foreign perception always more alert and awake to the particularity of others, the works of Rodrigo and Parks converge in the image of this wall, while support for shadows and urban graffiti records .

INAUGURAÇÃO DA EXPOSIÇÃO de RODRIGO HERNÁNDEZ RAMÍREZ E PARKS “GEOGRAFIAS” CASA DA AMÉRICA LATINA | 07 FEV 18H30

A Casa da América Latina, em parceria com a Galeria de Arte Urbana da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, inaugura no próximo dia 07 de Fevereiro, às 18h30, a exposição “Geografias”, de Rodrigo Hernández Ramírez e Parks.
A mostra conta com um conjunto de trabalhos de fotografia, vídeo, desenho e pintura, que visa colocar em diálogo dois criadores mexicanos, de uma mesma geração, que decidiram viver em Lisboa, contudo com discursos visuais distintos na abordagem da cidade e que aqui se encontram de forma singular, através de um cruzamento entre os universos da imagem e da arte urbana.
Num encontro artístico que traz um olhar originalmente mexicano sobre a cidade de Lisboa, uma perceção estrangeira sempre mais atenta e desperta para a particularidade do alheio, as obras de Rodrigo e Parks confluem na imagem deste muro, simultaneamente suporte de sombras urbanas e de registos graffiti. The Casa da América Latina, in partnership with the Urban Art Gallery of Lisbon City Council, opens on June 7 February at 18h30, the exhibition "Geographies,"  by Rodrigo Hernández Ramírez and Parks.

Here are some pictures from the third phase of Urban Art Gallery's Awareness and Comunication campaign, entiltled "Reciclar o Olhar" (Recycle your look), that involved the artistic intervention in  recycle containers in the city.

Arte Urbana no International Symposium Europe-Asia of Intercultural Cities

O Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, discursou hoje em Tóquio, no International Symposium Europe-Asia of Intercultural Cities, promovido pela Japan Foundation e Concelho da Europa, do qual transcrevemos um pequeno excerto:

“No contexto da estratégia para a arte urbana desenvolvida em Lisboa, tentamos igualmente estabelecer pontes entre as comunidades que actuam no território. A esfera pública revela-se como um lugar privilegiado para o fazer, pois pertence a todos e todos devem participar e expressar livremente a sua visão artística do mundo. A arte urbana pode, esteticamente, aprofundar a consciência do eu, do outro, da similaridade e da diversidade. A arte urbana pode, efectivamente, gerar a possibilidade de se trabalhar conjuntamente para uma melhor fruição da cidade.”

Urban Art – International Symposium Europe-Asia of Intercultural Cities

The Mayor of Lisbon City Hall, spoke today at Tokyo, in the International Symposium Europe-Asia of Intercultural Cities, organized by the Japan Foundation and by the  Council of Europe, which we transcribe a small sentence:

“In the context of street art strategy developed at Lisbon, we are also trying to bridge the gaps between the different cultures acting in the territory. The public sphere is a privileged place to do so, because it belongs to everyone, everyone should participate and express freely their artistic vision of the world. Urban art can aesthetically bring a profound conscience of the self, of the other, of the similarity and the diversity. Urban art can effectively generate the possibility of working together for a better fruition of the city.”

Encontro Internacional sobre Criatividade Urbana, Nápoles Dez 2011

Foi com muita satisfação que a Galeria de Arte Urbana esteve presente no Encontro Internacional sobre Criatividade Urbana, realizado nos dias 15 e 16 de Dezembro em Nápoles, a convite da associação italiana INWARD - International Network on Writing Art Research and Development, a par das três outras organizações participantes: Ground Release (Reino Unido), Stiching Aight (Holanda) e The Wall Project (Russia).

Entre as diversas actividades do encontro, destacamos:

-A inauguração da exposição "La fabbrica delle lettere" (Fábrica de Letras) na Biblioteca Nacional Vittorio Emanuele III, sita no Palazzo Reale de Nápoles, com trabalhos dos 9 artistas italianos: ZenTwo ( Francesco Palladino), Made (Alberto Capozzi), Entik (Alessandro Battisti), Pencil (Domenico Acampora), Opium (Aldo Oliviero ), Zeus40 (Gianluca Caputo), Macs ( Antonello Piccinino), Cactus (Vincenzo Mastroiorio), e Maria (Maria Checchia);

- A produção de um mural de graffiti num bairro problemático na periferia de Nápoles pelos participantes internacionais em conjunto com writers italianos. De referir, que este mural já tinha sido intervencionado com criações de graffiti, em Julho passado, por um conjunto de criadores no âmbito do seminário internacional European Graffiti;

- A assinatura do Memorando de Entendimento para a constituição da rede internacional de criatividade urbana, por parte das 5 organizações participantes no encontro, na sede da INWARD - Centro Territoriale per la Creatività Urbana, em Nápoles.

A participação da GAU neste encontro revelou-se bastante positiva, uma vez que permitiu a possibilidade de dar continuidade aos trabalhos e parceria iniciadas em Julho passado, bem como a oportunidade de internacionalização da actuação da Galeria de Arte Urbana, de debate, troca de experiências e boas práticas em projectos relacionados com os universos da arte urbana e do património artístico e cultural – objectivos estabelecidos para o Programa Municipal para a Arte Urbana.

It was with great satisfaction that the Urban Art Gallery attended the International Meeting on Urban Creativity, held on 15 and 16 December in Naples, by invitation of the Italian association Inward - International Network on Writing Art Research and Development, along with the three other participating organizations: Ground Release (UK) Stichting Aight (Netherlands) and The Wall Project (Russia).

Among the various activities of the meeting, we highlight:

-The opening of the exhibition "La Fabbrica delle Lettere" (Letter Factory) in National Biblioteca Vittorio Emanuele III, located in Palazzo Reale in Naples, with works by 9 italian artists: ZenTwo (Francesco Palladino), Made (Alberto Capozzi) Entik (Alessandro Battisti), Pencil (Domenico Acampora), Opium (Aldo Oliviero), Zeus40 (Gianluca Caputo), Macs (Antonello Piccinino), Cactus (Vincenzo Mastroiorio), and Mary (Maria Checchia);

-The production of a graffiti mural in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Naples by the international participants in conjunction with Italian writers. This wall had already been painted with creations of graffiti last July by a group of writers in the context of the international seminar on European Graffiti;

-The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the International Network of Urban Creativity by the five organizations, wich had place at the headquarters of Inward - Centro per la Territoriale Creatività Urbana, in Naples.

 GAU's participation in this meeting proved to be very positive, since it allowed the possibility of continuing the work and partnership started last July, and the opportunity to internationalize the actions of Urban Art Gallery, debate, exchange of experiences and best practices on projects related to the worlds of street art and cultural heritage - targets for the Urban Art's Municipal Program.
